You can set the rate you'd like to charge cash-pay clients who sign up on your practice website.
Set your custom rate
To access Custom Rates on your profile, click on your profile photo in the left menu bar. Select "Preferences."
After navigating to your Preferences, select "Custom Rates."
Here, you can choose what you'd like to charge cash-pay clients who sign up on your practice website. The maximum rate you can charge is $350.
Who your custom rate applies to
This session cost will be charged to clients who sign up on your practice website and choose to pay cash. This will not apply to Tava referral clients who choose to pay cash. For these clients, you'll be paid the Tava referral rates which you can find under "Payouts" in your profile.
Your payout
For clients you bring to Tava (who sign up on your practice website), you will be paid the client cost minus a small processing fee. You can see the session cost and your payout for each client in the "coverage" panel on the client's profile.
Set a sliding scale discount
You can set a sliding scale discount for individual clients who are paying your custom cash rate. You can do this within the "Coverage" panel on the right side of the client's profile by selecting "Set discount."
You can choose to apply a discount as a percentage off your custom rate, or as the dollar amount you'd like to charge the client.
Set a custom rate per client
You can also set higher rate for individual clients who are paying cash. You can do this within the "Coverage" panel on the right side of the client's profile by selecting "Set discount," and entering a fixed rate beyond your normal custom cash pay rate.
Considerations
- Experience and qualifications: Therapists with advanced degrees, specialized training, and extensive experience often charge higher rates.
- Demand and availability: Therapists who have a high demand for their services or limited availability may set higher cash pay rates.
- Local market rates: Take into account the prevailing rates charged by other therapists in the local area and adjust your rate to be competitive. In larger cities and metropolitan areas, therapy rates are higher due to higher living costs and demand for services. In contrast, rates may be lower in rural or less densely populated areas.
The median cost of a cash-pay therapy session in the United States is $150. Ultimately, set your cash pay rate based on your professional judgment and the needs of your practice and clients.
