Tava Health currently supports Tava-referred medication management clients. Prescribers cannot add their own existing clients from another platform to bill through Tava.
Which CPT codes are supported?
Tava currently supports the following medication-management CPT codes:
Visit type |
Supported CPT codes |
|---|---|
Initial evaluation |
99202, 99203, 99204, 99205 |
Follow-up visit |
99212, 99213, 99214, 99215 |
Tava Health will automatically select the code that accurately reflects the service delivered once you've entered the start and end time of the visit.
Are therapy add-on codes supported?
Therapy add-on CPT codes are not supported for medication-management sessions at this time.
What documentation is required?
Prescriber progress notes for medication-management sessions should follow the SOAP format:
Subjective: The client’s reported symptoms, concerns, response to treatment, side effects, and relevant updates.
Objective: Relevant observations, measurements, or other clinically appropriate findings.
Assessment: Your clinical assessment and evaluation of the client’s current condition and treatment response.
Plan: The treatment plan, medication-related decisions, follow-up plan, and any appropriate next steps.
Document the services provided during the session accurately and completely. Your documentation should support the code selected and comply with applicable clinical, legal, and payer requirements.
How do coverage and payment types work?
Eligible medication-management sessions may be supported through different coverage pathways, including:
EAP Benefit
Insurance
Cash pay
The coverage options available to a client depend on their eligibility, plan, state, and the prescriber’s applicable payer enrollment. Clients select from the payment options available to them during the booking process.
Can I set my own cash-pay rate?
Prescribers cannot set custom cash-pay rates for medication-management sessions. Tava sets the client-facing cash-pay rate, while provider rates may vary based on the prescriber’s qualifications and payer or referral arrangement. See this article for questions about payouts.
Can I use my own documentation tools?
Yes. Prescribers may use other HIPAA-compliant tools for intake questionnaires and clinical documentation, while continuing to use Tava for the supported platform workflow.
