Use this guide to troubleshoot time-related scheduling and availability issues, which often stem from timezone settings. Common challenges include:
- Appointments appearing earlier or later than expected on your schedule
- Clients booking sessions outside of your set availability
Timezone Challenges on Your Schedule
Your Schedule page displays appointments based on your device’s timezone settings. Most devices automatically adjust the time based on your location. If you travel, your schedule will reflect the local time of your device.
Checking Your Device’s Timezone on Tava
- Hover over the timezone abbreviation in the top-left corner of the Schedule page.
- A message will appear showing your device’s local timezone and the current time for that timezone.
- If this is correct, your device is properly set up. If not, update your device settings.
Timezone Challenges Related to Availability
Unlike your Schedule, the times displayed on your Availability page are based on the timezone set in your Tava profile—not your device. These availability times do not adjust when you travel.
Checking Your Availability Timezone
- On the Availability page, look for the phrase “Times shown in”, which displays your profile’s timezone.
- If you observe Daylight Savings Time, ensure your timezone updates correctly:
- March–November: PDT, MDT, CDT, EDT
- November–March: PST, MST, CST, EST
- If you do not observe Daylight Savings Time or are outside the U.S., your timezone may vary.
Fixing a Mismatched Timezone
- If your timezone is incorrect, update it in your Profile settings.
-
- Re-visit the availability page and update your hours as needed
Time Changes Related to Temporary Travel
- Your Schedule and Availability preview will adjust to your current location’s timezone when traveling.
- However, the Manage Availability tab always displays times in your profile’s set timezone.
- Example: If you work in Utah (MDT) but travel to Los Angeles (PST) and add availability from 1 PM - 2 PM, it will be saved as 1 PM MDT (appearing as 12 PM - 1 PM PST on your schedule).
- Tava will confirm the timezone when you adjust availability or mark time away.
Google Calendar Considerations
Your Google Calendar may display appointment times in your calendar’s timezone, not your browser’s timezone, depending on your location.
Time Changes Related to Relocation
If you move permanently, update your profile’s timezone to reflect your new location.
How This Affects Your Availability
- Clients will still see your originally set hours in your previous timezone.
- Example: A provider in Denver (MST) available from 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM MST moves to New York (EST). Their availability will now be 11:30 AM - 2:30 PM EST (still aligning with 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM MST).
- To change your availability to match your new local time, update your profile’s timezone settings in Tava.
By keeping your timezone settings accurate, you can avoid scheduling conflicts and ensure a smooth experience for both you and your clients!
