Tava provider pay rates fall into two buckets based on who brought this client to you. Self Referral Clients are clients you brought to Tava, and Tava Referral are clients Tava brought to you. Self Referral Client rates vary by payment type (specific insurance plans, therapy benefits, or your cash‑pay rate), whereas Tava Referral rates do not change.
Rate Buckets
Self Referral Rates (Variable)
Applies when you sourced the client. This includes clients you add through the “Add Client” button, or clients who schedule through your personal Tava website link, directories, and other marketing efforts. Payouts in this bucket can vary by the client’s payment preferences, such as their insurance plan, sponsored benefits, or your cash‑pay rate if enabled.
Tava Referral Rate (Set)
Applies when Tava sourced the client. Referrals come from our employer programs, partner networks, organic client sign‑ups, and sponsored listings. This is a set rate and does not change based on the client’s payment preferences. If a Tava Referral uses all their employer credits and wants to transition to insurance-pay sessions, payout rates remain the same.
How to See Client Source
There are three ways to confirm if a client is a Tava Referral or a Self Referral. The “Referral” tab on the Client list shows “Tava” for Tava Referrals, and “Myself” for Self Referral Clients.
On individual client profiles, clients are labeled as “Tava Referral” or “Self-Referral” below the client’s name.
On your Schedule, select a recent or upcoming session. Sessions are labeled as “Tava Referral” or “Self-Referral.”
Common Causes of Misclassification
- Using the General Tava Website: Clients who register on the general Tava Health website instead of your unique signup link will be categorized as "Tava referrals."
- Returning Clients: If a client previously signed up as a "Tava referral" and later returns, their referral status will remain unchanged as a "Tava referral."
If a client was misclassified, Tava support can manually update the client’s referral status. Please reach out to therapist-support@tavahealth.com if there are ever misclassifications.
Where to See Your Rates
Use the Payouts tab to view your rates. On the right hand side, you'll see exactly how much you will be reimbursed for each type of session, including for clients you bring to Tava (Self Referral Clients) and Tava Referral clients. For clients you bring to Tava, insurance payout rates can be viewed by selecting "See rates" under "Clients I Bring."

Can I apply my custom cash rate or sliding scale to a Tava Referral client after sponsored sessions end?
No. Custom rates and sliding scale discounts do not apply to Tava Referral clients.
